BBQ ideas for a crowd
To make these BBQ Sausage Kabobs, all you need is your favorite type of sausage (any type of beef, pork, or chicken sausage will do), red onion, mini bell peppers, BBQ sauce, and, of course, the skewers. Layer all of the items on the skewers and smother them in a flavorful BBQ sauce. Then cook the kabobs on the grill until they are slightly charred.
Serve them whole on the kabobs without taking all of the ingredients off of the skewers - this makes portioning really easy for guests!
Ingredients- 6 pieces of sausage
- 1 red onion, cut into squares
- 12 mini sweet bell peppers
- BBQ sauce
- 6 long wooden skewers
Turn the grill on to medium-high heat, then soak the skewers in warm water for 5 minutes (this is to make sure the sticks don’t catch on fire).
Cut the sausage into 1-inch thick coins. Layer the skewers as follows: 2 pieces of sausage, 2 squares of red onion, 1 mini bell pepper. Repeat this sequence, fitting as many layers as possible.
Smother the kabobs in BBQ sauce and grill until both the sausage and the vegetables are thoroughly cooked; depending on your grill, it should take around 20-30 minutes. Once the kabobs are fully cooked, remove them from the grill and drizzle BBQ sauce on top immediately. Serve right away.
Note: You can assemble these ahead of time and grill them right before serving. Once cooked, they can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
